On our 10th anniversary of partnership with Stowe, we did a major overhaul of Stowe's desktop and mobile websites. Our work has been well noted and has now won Horizon Interactive Awards. The desktop took Gold for Consumer Information, which is awesome. More awesome is the Mobile Best of Category that beat out all other mobile sites regardless of category.

Propeller Media Works Honored with Horizon Interactive Awards

Propeller scored the “Best in Category” for the Stowe mobile website, and a “Gold” award for the Stowe website in the Consumer Information Category.
“We are very excited to be recognized with a Best in Category Horizon Award for the Stowe mobile site, especially since it was measured against all mobile sites submitted,” said Propeller Media Works owner David Gibson. “This is our first award for a mobile site and the third Horizon Award we have won for Stowe over the years.”
The Horizon Interactive Awards is a prestigious international competition recognizing outstanding achievement among interactive media producers. Each year, the Horizon Interactive Awards receives thousands of entries from all over the world. A panel of industry professionals, from diverse multi-media, graphic design and marketing backgrounds, review the entries to determine the work that is to be recognized. Entries are given a Gold, Silver, Bronze, and in some cases honorable mention award distinctions. All Gold winners are eligible for the Best of Category and Best of Show award (the Horizon Interactive Awards highest honor).
Mobile users have grown exponentially recently. The mobile platform for Stowe Mountain Resort is integrated with the primary site. They share the same Content Management System (CMS), which allows the client to update the website and mobile version from a single platform.
“The biggest advantage is that it saves the client a ton of time by not having to manage two back-end systems,” Gibson said.
While very simple to update for the client, Stowe’s new mobile website is even easier for skiing and snowboarding guests to navigate.
“The mobile site was designed to be both engaging and easy to use – whether on a bouncing train or the slopes with frozen fingers,” Gibson added.
While most mobile sites are simple just paired down versions of the online site, Stowe’s mobile site actually is set up to provide the top level of information that mobile-specific users desire, while still providing access to the full web versionwhich also performs well on most smart phones.
