As anticipated, Google today combined Google Places into G+ Pages for brands. This adds a boost for relevancy of G+ Pages for local search and in doing so now offers a much more dynamic experience for visitors who previously only found static Google Place pages before. The previous five star ratings have also been replaced by a more nuanced 30 point rating system delivered by Zagot. Opening your updated G+ will now reveal a new "Local" tab. Here you'll find recommended G+ Pages of businesses close to you. Needless to say, location oriented businesses will want to focus even more on G+.
