Shopify Ecommerce
We've been building websites since 1997. In that time, we've navigated every major shift in the web - from table layouts to responsive design, from static pages to dynamic platforms, from basic SEO to the agentic web era we're entering now.
Whether you're stuck with a Shopify theme that's been customized past the point of no return, dealing with accessibility gaps that put you at legal risk, or watching your organic traffic decline as AI reshapes how people search - the Shopify development agency you choose matters more than it ever has.
We work with ecommerce businesses that have outgrown their current setup - whether that's a template held together with duct tape and 15 apps, a storefront built by an agency that didn't understand ecommerce at an engineering level, or a migration from another platform that needs to be done right. We work with mature brands that value quality craftsmanship and understand that a custom Shopify store is an investment in long-term performance, not just a visual refresh.
What hasn't changed: the fundamentals matter. Clean code, smart design, semantic structure, and accessibility aren't trends. They're the foundation that makes everything else work - including the AI agents and answer engines that are now driving ecommerce discovery and purchase decisions.
We lean forward. Always have. And we bring 29 years of depth to every project so you're not the one paying for someone else's learning curve.
No juniors. No interns. Just the pros.
Our approach to custom Shopify development
Most ecommerce brands that come to us have a store that's become a liability. The theme has been stretched past its limits. Adding features breaks something else. The site is slow and nobody knows why.
We build custom Shopify themes from scratch - clean Liquid code, purpose-built sections, and a storefront architecture designed around how your customers actually shop. Not modified templates. Not pre-built themes with tweaks.
What you get:
- Fast-loading storefronts that don't carry theme bloat
- Custom Shopify app development when off-the-shelf apps don't cut it
- Integrations with your existing systems (ERP, PIM, 3PL, email, loyalty)
- A lean app stack - every dependency vetted for security, performance, and accessibility
- A store your team can update without calling a Shopify developer
Every third-party app you add is a dependency you don't control. It can slow your site, break your checkout, and introduce security vulnerabilities. We keep the app count low and build what you actually need.
Shopify accessibility: WCAG compliance for legal protection, SEO, and AIO
Your Shopify store has four types of visitors: human shoppers, screen readers and assistive technology, search engine crawlers, and AI agents. They all need the same thing from your code - semantic structure, clear labels, logical hierarchy, and content they can parse without guessing.

That's what WCAG compliance delivers. Not just legal protection (though ecommerce remains the number one target for ADA litigation). Not just expanded reach to 61 million Americans with disabilities and 71 million Boomers with changing vision and dexterity. WCAG compliance produces the structured, well-labeled HTML that search engines use to index your products and AI systems use to cite and recommend them.
Accessibility, SEO, and AIO are the same engineering discipline. One codebase. Three outcomes.
Every Shopify store we build meets WCAG 2.2 AA standards:
- Semantic HTML throughout
- Keyboard navigation for every interactive element
- Accessible checkout flows
- Color contrast that passes on every surface
- Alt text that serves assistive technology, search crawlers, and AI agents equally
We keep it tight from build through launch, and our care plans include accessibility regression testing so it stays compliant after every update.
For formal accessibility auditing, VPATs, or governance programs, we work alongside Accessibility.Works, our dedicated digital accessibility consultancy.
Our process for building Shopify Storefronts
Every project follows the same five-step process. No surprises, no scope ambiguity.

1. Discovery and technical plan
We audit your current store (if you have one), learn your business and customers, and deliver a written technical plan you own regardless of whether you move forward with us. This is a deliverable, not a sales pitch.
2. Design
No house style. Calm design - focused, restrained, unique to your brand. The human touch that AI can't deliver. For ecommerce, design decisions are conversion decisions:
- Product page layout and hierarchy
- Cart flow and filtering UX
- Mobile checkout experience
- Brand presentation across every surface
3. Custom build
Custom Liquid themes, custom Shopify apps, third-party integrations, product data migration, and testing throughout. Every app vetted for security, performance, and accessibility before it goes in.
4. Launch and QA
Screen reader testing, keyboard navigation, cross-browser QA, checkout flow testing, performance audit, SEO baseline (Search Console, product schema, sitemap). We don't launch until it passes.
5. Ongoing care plan
Theme updates, app updates, accessibility regression checks, performance monitoring, and conversion optimization. Your store stays current and compliant without you thinking about it.
Shopify SEO, AIO, and the agentic web
If your product pages aren't showing up in AI-generated shopping recommendations, or your organic traffic has been declining while your ad costs climb, you're not imagining it.

The web is shifting from indexing to retrieval. Search engines used to rank product pages. Now AI systems read them, extract product information, and present it directly to shoppers. Google's AI Overviews summarize product comparisons. AI shopping agents browse, evaluate, and purchase on behalf of users.
This is the agentic web - and ecommerce is where it hits first and hardest.
Every Shopify store we build is engineered for this:
- Product schema on every product page
- Structured collection and category data
- Semantic heading hierarchy for AI content parsing
- Clean URL architecture
- Content structured to answer specific buyer questions in the first few sentences
Traditional ecommerce SEO still matters - page speed, image optimization, sitemaps, internal linking, canonical tags. But the Shopify websites that win in 2026 and beyond are the ones built so AI agents can read, understand, and recommend their products. Not just rank them.
This isn't a separate service. It's how we build.
